Numerical Modelling of Metal Forming: Preform Optimization

Abstract

A numerical procecedure for the design of optimized preforms for use in metal forming is described. The choice of design variables and objective functions and the procedures used for the determination of sensitivities are discussed, introducing new proposals. An example shows the performance of the code.
