Simulação de Escoamentos Turbuletos pelo Método de Elementos Finitos através da Simulação Direta de Grandes Vórtices

Abstract


The analysis of incompressible turbulent flow employing the large eddy simulation technique, using finite element method and Smagorinsky'slll subgridscale model. is presented in this work. Results of flow simulations on a backwardfacing step. obtained through the solution of Navier-Stokes equations without the turbulence model (neglecting small scales effects), as well as using the Smagorinsky's model, considering and neglecting Leonards and cross terms, are
presented. These results are compared with experimental and numerical results of other authors, and good agreements can be observed.
