Abstract

In this work is formulated a one dimensional model which predicts the air flow rate and the air pressure field developed into a poroelastic substrate during the prevailing conditions in blade coater.
The model is solved numerically and the predictions are obtained in terms of a non-dimensional parameter which can be interpreted as a measure of the air confinement in the pore spate. It is shown that, for usual values of this parameter, the air pore pressure plays an important role on the structure of the resulting coating layer.
