Abstract

The methology and calculation procedures to carry out a systematic research of the effect of simplificacions in the mathematical modelling for the annual optimal operation programming of hydrothermal systems, is discussed. The aspects whose modelling have been studied as regards the effect of simplifications on it, are: A)Water losses, B) Hydro system aggregation. The methodology and calculation procedure are based on a scheme of superposed optimizations using the dynamic programming combined with an "adaptiv searching method" and elaborate packed stcrage techniques for the spare variables. The results are presented in form of
curves of the errors caused by simplifi.cations, as function of the hydrothermal generation systems characteristics. These curves allow for each particular system the predetermination of the admissible simplifications by the modelling to calculate optimal operation programs with the advantages derived of the possibility to utilize u less elaborate data base, reduced main storage requirements and processing time.
