Una Técnica para Calcular Factores de Intensidad de Tensiones
Abstract
In many problems of fracture and fatigue, the crack propation rate is governed by the applied stress Intensity Factor K. For long cracks, generally their shapes are straight or semielliptic and analitical solutions are available. But, for short cracks, generally with an irregular shape, numerical methods to compute K are necesary. There are many technics to evaluate K from numerical methods, being the most usual the direct sustitution of classical solutions using nodal displacements in the vecinity of the crack tip.
The present work compares these techniques with other based on weighted integral of local stresses. It is shown that good predictions can be obtained using coarse meshes. The results obtained with both techniques are discussed.
