El Método de los Elementos Finitos Aplicado a la Fractomecánica del Hormigón
Abstract
In this communication, the theoretical background and the computer implementation of a fracture mechanics
approach applied to concrete are described. The
"Fictitious Crack Model" herein presented simulates the
behaviour of concrete members SUbjected to tensile
stresses, properly accounting for the "strain-softening"
observed in direct tension tests under controlled displacement. This model makes it possible to follow the
crack propagation along a prescribed crack path by means
of linear finite element calculations.
