Further Development in the Radial Integration Method
Abstract
The radial integration method is a method to transform domain integrals into boundary integrals in the boundary element formulation. It is easy to implement, does not requires particular solutions, and is quite suitable to problems were fundamental solutions are difficult to implement or even unknown. However, its main drawback is the computational cost that is higher than other techniques as dual reciprocity or cell integration. This article discusses the numerical aspects of its implementation. The dependence of the response on the number of integration points is analysed. Accuracy and computational costs are compared with other techniques and results are presented for heat transfer.
