Error Estimation In Hierarchical Finite Element Method Applied To Acoustic Cavities.

Abstract


The main objective of this paper is to present an error estimator applied to
the adaptive re¯nement process in acoustic dynamic analysis. A posteriori error estimator
based on Fribergs formulations is developed, and the numerical solutions is obtained using
triangular hierarchical ¯nite elements. The procedure is tested using analytical solutions of
2-dimensional acoustic cavities. The acoustic frequencies and mode shapes are compared
with the analytical solutions for di®erent initial mesh. The in°uence of mesh distortions
is also evaluated.
